Chester Music Center
Grand Opening

July 12, 2018

The Chester Music Center was opened in March, 2018, with the mission to increase the accessibility and visibility of music in the local community. The goal of the Chester Music Center is to provide a space to connect people across genres and generations and offer a positive, empowering experience for students of all ability levels.  Please join me for a loosely guided old-time jam, open to the public, on the first monday of every month from 6-8pm. for information on private fiddle or guitar lessons, please contact me!
The Chester Music Center is located at 295 Main Street, Chester, Vermont, on the vibrant village green. The building is teeming with energy, and is also home to sama yoga, meditrina wine and cheese, and community art garden, a community art studio, school and gallery run by my friend and musical collaborator Emily Burkland. Community art garden provides hands-on arts enrichment and open-ended studio time for artists of all ages through classes as well as regular weekly drop-in open studio time.
Thanks to George Nostrand at the Rutland Herald for this article announcing the opening:

Interview with Red Line Roots

September 27, 2017

Picture
I was recently asked to share some thoughts with Brian from Red Line Roots, an online magazine celebrating and documenting the folk, bluegrass, rock, and americana music scene in the Northeast. The interview is to promote my gig with Faith Wood at the Free Verse Festival coming up this Sunday at Free Verse Farm in Chelsea, Vermont. It was a nice opportunity to reflect on the my connection to old-time music and my artistic vision, and how the Vermont community has shaped my career and life so far. It’s awesome to be collaborating with Red Line Roots– we hope to get some video of our set at Free Verse Festival, so stay tuned!

Independent Television Festival with Will Seeders Mosheim

October 6, 2017

On Saturday, October 14th and Sunday, October 15th, I will be performing on the Dorset town green with local musician and luthier Will Seeders Mosheim.  We will be performing as part of a town wide effort to welcome and celebrate the International Television Festival, which runs from October 11th-15th in Manchester.

“ITVFest (the Independent Television Festival) is a
worldwide community of television creators, executives, agents and fans responsible for discovering the best new television programs created on independent (aka, non-network) budgets. Throughout the year from New York to Los Angeles and places in between, our global network of creatives, executives and fans gather for seminars, screenings and retreats. It all culminates at the week-long festival in Manchester in October. Unlike big city festivals where it can be difficult to interact with the right people, ITVFest in Vermont offers a unique opportunity to meet fellow professionals and make these lasting connections that can lead to prosperous careers.” (ITV website)
